A tasty little tart that’s as impressive as it is simple.

I’ve served this as a starter when friends are over for dinner, had it as a weekend lunch with a chilled glass of the pink stuff, and rustled it up after work for a mid week supper.

Lemon, polenta and poppy seed syrup cake with honeyed spiced figs

This is something of a first for the blog; a cake!

It’s not that I don’t cook or like cakes, more that I’ve always been more of a savoury girl. But this is a beautiful cake that has a great texture, is incredibly moist and isn’t overly sweet.
